3 Shocking truths about Laser Hair Removal

3 Facts you must know about Laser Hair Removal

If you’ve had or ever thought about having laser hair removal treatments, I’m going to explain the ‘how‘ and ‘why‘ we do things differently here at VC Dermal compared to others in our industry. This blog will provide you with honest, straightforward information that will help you better understand how laser hair removal works and the potential side effects of laser hair removal when treatments are not performed the right way.  We will also explain why some clinics offer heavily discounted prices and why you should not choose a clinic just because they are offering the cheapest price in laser hair removal. Like with anything – if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is and you should ask yourself, why? Okay, let’s get into the 3 facts you must know about laser hair removal.

1. Laser hair removal needs to be performed every 8 weeks on the body and every 4 weeks on the face.

In order to catch the highest percentage of hair in the active growth phase (the only time we can destroy your hair) we need to treat when the root is attached to the blood supply, otherwise we are not destroying your hair. Why do other clinics get you to come in more often? There are a few reasons for this: The main reason is that they want you coming back twice as often and paying twice as much (Yes! Although they are charging peanuts they are charging peanuts × 2), which actually works out to be more in the long run for you. If treatments are performed properly to begin with, you should not have any hair growth on the body 4 weeks later and if there is, it’s more than likely a “missed patch” or hair that’s still in the shedding phase (dead hair) rather than the next stage of hair growing coming through. Think about that – either the hair that’s being treated is a missed patch (not properly treated to begin with) or the hair is dead and close to shedding, so why would you pay for a full treatment 4 weeks later? Did the light bulb turn on yet? Let’s move on to the next truth about laser hair removal shall we?

2. We need to reach at least 70 degrees in order to destroy the hair follicle.

Think about that – in order to destroy your hair, studies have shown that we need to achieve a 70 degree temperature to shut down the blood supply. Not achieving this temperature means that we are only damaging your hair, not destroying it. When you wax your hair, you damage it, right? It then eventually grows back. When you laser your hair, you shut down the blood supply so that the hair is destroyed (doesn’t grow back). Now I’m not saying you’re going to be 100% hair free, however once a hair follicle has been successfully destroyed it will not grow back. There are many contributing factors at play here, however one major role is achieving the right temperature that will destroy your hair without damaging your skin. Therefore, in summary:

☑️ We must achieve 70 degrees to give you ultimate RESULTS

☑️ Not reaching this temperature is equivalent to waxing your hair (your hair will eventually grow back)

☑️ Treating you too high will result in adverse side effects such as burns

So what does that mean to the way we do things differently at VC Dermal Clinics when it comes to Laser Hair Removal?

3. We provide enough TIME to ensure we’re treating you properly.

Compared to other clinics, we allow our therapists plenty of TIME to perform laser hair removal treatments by following very strict protocols. Clients are not rushed in and out like a laser hair removal production line style clinic. We provide enough TIME needed to make sure we are treating you at high enough temperatures without giving you any adverse side effects. We provide enough TIME to ensure we are covering the area so that you don’t get any missed patches and if you do get missed patches (in the rare event) then we will happy treat them within a 3-4 week period. We provide our therapists enough TIME to provide you with long-term laser hair removal RESULTS!

In summary, it’s important to understand that there are so many factors we need to consider when performing a laser hair removal treatment. It shouldn’t be a quick in and out treatment, and there are so many factors to consider when performing the treatment. If you’re wanting more information, get in contact with one of our therapists and we’ll be happy to answer any of your questions.
