Lip Filler

Before and After

What Are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are cosmetic injections that add volume and plumpness to the lips. The process of undergoing lip fillers or injections is also known as lip augmentation. There are many different types of dermal fillers that are used all around the world, but the go-to products for aesthetic practitioners in 2022 are fillers that contain Collagen or Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to increase volume and size.

How Do Lip Fillers Work?

Before we get into how lip fillers work, it is important that we understand what Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is. HA is a natural sugar derivative that is produced in the body to hydrate the eyes, joints, and skin. One of the most amazing aspects of this compound is its ability to retain water molecules equal to 1,000 times its own weight. By boosting your lips or skin with this incredibly naturally occurring substance, lip fillers instantly  revitalise and add volume to the area treated. More amazingly, the effects from a single treatment of Hyaluronic Acid lip fillers can last for up to 6 months, depending on both the thickness of the product and various biological factors of an individual client.

What Are The Benefits Of Lip Fillers?

There are numerous benefits of lip fillers, with some of the most popular being:

  • Restored/increased volume and fullness of the lips;
  • Improved shape and structure of the lips;
  • Improved confidence;
  • A more youthful appearance;
  • Little to no recovery time; and
  • Relief from lip dryness (improved hydration).

What To Expect After Lip Fillers?

Immediately after treatment, you can expect some swelling and/or small red spots at injection sites. Nothing to worry about, because this swelling should go down in about 2-3 days and subside completely in about a week. Bruising around the lips is another common side effect, which may last about a week.

Note: You may also experience numbness of the injected area for a few hours after treatment due to the residual effects of topical anaesthetic.

Lip Fillers FAQ

A lip filler treatment may start from $380 to $549 for 1ml, depending on the product used. To find out more about how much your individual treatment may cost, be sure to contact one of our licensed practitioners today.

In most cases, Hyaluronic Acid fillers last anywhere between 6-18 months, with a gradual loss of volume over time. How long your filler lasts is also highly dependent on how quickly your body breaks down (metabolises) neurotoxins and dermal fillers.

The results are instant. You’ll notice a huge improvement in the volume and shape of your lips immediately after treatment. However, do note that in the first few days, your lips will appear fuller than the final result due to swelling. It typically takes about 4 weeks for the filler to settle in and achieve the final, desired look.

Yes! It is absolutely possible to remove or reverse your injections by dissolving them. HA fillers are easily dissolved using hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down the filler to quickly reverse the effects.

Lip fillers are typically a quick and easy treatment with minimal discomfort. A licensed clinician at VC Dermal Clinics will apply a topical anaesthetic cream to further reduce discomfort. Some patients may feel a slight pinch with each injection, but pain is usually brief and very manageable.

There is no need to massage your lips post treatment. Your clinician will massage your lips immediately after treatment and no further massaging is required once you leave the clinic. Further massaging your lips may risk moving the filler around causing the possibility of deportation and undesirable results.

We do not recommend cosmetic injectables if you are pregnant, trying to fall pregnant or breastfeeding.
