Cellulite

Until recently, there were very few effective solutions for reducing cellulite. It was considered something that must be accepted as women (and some men) age.

However, our understanding of the condition has come forward in leaps and bounds in recent years. Modern treatment options have become far more targeted and effective at significantly reducing, if not completely eradicating, any visible cellulite.

Generally, treatments for cellulite can be broken down into two types:

  1. Medical grade treatments performed by certified therapists like our highly qualified staff at Victorian Cosmetic Dermal Clinics.
  2. Simple changes you can make in your life to minimise your cellulite, as well as improving your general health and well-being.

Medical grade treatments

At Victorian Cosmetic Dermal Clinics we employ the world’s best technology for cellulite reduction and body re-shaping: the Syneron VelaShape system. This system uses a combination of bi-polar radiofrequency heat, infrared heat, suction pulses, and body massage with mechanical rollers to re-firm and re-shape problem areas. This combination has been clinically proven to result in an improvement in almost 90% of patients. It is thus considered the gold standard among medical grade cellulite treatment procedures.

Are there any side effects?

The VelaShape system uses only non-invasive techniques. There are no reports of any harm due to the treatment procedure to date, and it has been in use across the world for years. Numerous medical trials have reported no side effects from the Syneron VelaShape. The process is completely painless and unbelievably effective at smoothing away cellulite.

Simple changes you can make to reduce cellulite

Dietary changes for cellulite reduction

Your diet and lifestyle play a major role in cellulite formation. High-calorie meals and lack of exercise are the prime causes of cellulite and obesity. Dehydration is also a strong contributor as your cells do not fill up with vital liquid that keeps you looking radiant and your energy levels high.

To reduce cellulite, try to avoid the following foods:

  • High-sugar sauces (tomato sauce, barbecue sauce)
  • Pizza
  • Canned meals
  • Soft drinks
  • Vegetable-oil based spreads (use butter instead)
  • High-salt condiments (soy sauce, mustard, salad dressing)
  • Processed meats and cheeses
  • White bread and pasta
  • Snack foods (crisps, instant noodles)

But fear not, because there are some great wholesome foods that can aid you in your battle against cellulite:

  • Seeds (quinoa, sunflower seeds)
  • Nuts
  • Berries
  • Citrus fruits (orange, lemon)
  • Herbs (parsley, coriander)
  • Spices (turmeric, cumin, chilli)
  • Roots (garlic, ginger)
  • Wholegrains (buckwheat, brown rice)

Relationship between physical activity, body fat and cellulite

Having a higher body fat certainly makes cellulite far more visible. But another oft-overlooked factor is having good circulation as a result of lots of cardiovascular exercise. To really ramp up your cardiovascular exercise, look into high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which requires less time than long distance training, but still achieves amazing results.
