What Is Skin Needling?
A fast and safe way to achieve younger and more radiant skin
Are you tired of imperfect and dull-looking skin? Skin needling, also known as micro-needling therapy or collagen induction therapy, is a fast, safe and effective way to achieve younger and more radiant-looking skin. The procedure is minimally invasive and relatively pain-free. It involves pricking the skin with tiny needles to trigger your skin’s natural healing process. Your skin will begin to produce collagen and elastin resulting in a refreshed and younger look. In addition to younger-looking skin, skin needling is great for reducing the effects of a range of common skin imperfections and persistent skin conditions.
If you are sick of trying at-home remedies that still leave you feeling self-conscious then it is time to act. You deserve the skin you have always wanted. Speak to one of our highly trained professionals today!Book Your Appointment
Does Skin Needling Work?
Using your body’s natural healing process to achieve a natural glow
Skin needling is a very effective way to minimise many common skin imperfections. The top layer of skin contains dead skin cells and many imperfections that can leave you feeling self-conscious. Imperfections such as acne, dark spots, large pores, fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage are all common in this layer of the skin. By using tiny needles to cause small wounds in the skin your body’s natural healing is triggered which replaces the damaged layer of skin with the younger, undamaged skin underneath. This process is also an effective treatment to combat hair loss and reduce the visibility of stretch marks and scars. Your skin will continue to release collagen and elastin for up to twelve weeks after your skin needling appointment meaning you get to enjoy the results for longer. Whilst skin needling speeds up your body’s natural skin shedding process it’s not magic; your body needs time to heal between treatments and multiple sessions are usually required before results are seen.
How to Prepare for Skin Needling
Minimal effort for great results
There is very little in the way of preparation for a skin needling appointment. For the two weeks before your appointment, avoid laser treatments, direct sun exposure and sunburn. One week before your appointment you should avoid waxing depilatory creams and electrolysis. Finally on the day of your appointment do not shave or exfoliate the skin as it may cause further irritation.Book Your Appointment
How to care for skin after Skin Needling
Caring for your skin for even better results.
Your skin is a sensitive organ and requires the utmost care to make sure it’s looking its best especially when it is in the process of healing. The first few days after your appointment are the most important when it comes to looking after your skin. Your skin will be sensitive and the tiny holes left by the needles haven’t had time to heal over. This means they are at the greatest risk of infection.
While your skin heals it may start to flake and feel tight, but it is important that you don’t touch your face without washing your hands and do not pick at or scratch any flaky skin. You should apply a gentle moisturiser 2-3 times a day, but don’t put any products that contain active ingredients on the area for at least 3-5 days; however, you may use a very mild cleanser and barrier cream. Although your skin may be red don’t try to cover it up with makeup. It is recommended that you don’t apply makeup to the area for at least 48 hours.
Your skin will also be much more sensitive to the sun for several weeks after your appointment so be sure to avoid direct exposure. However, we recommend that you do not use sunscreen immediately after your appointment. You may apply a mineral sunscreen after your skin has started to heal which is usually after 24 hours.
Avoid exercise or any activity that will cause you to sweat including swimming and saunas for at least 72 hours as it will cause unwanted heat and may allow bacteria to penetrate the skin.
Throughout the entire process, the most important step as always is to drink plenty of water!

What to Expect from Your Skin Needling Appointment
A quick and pain-free solution to unwanted imperfections and persistent skin conditions
The process of skin needling is fast, painless, and not as scary as the name would suggest. If you are uncomfortable with needles, fear not! The needles used in skin needling are far from the needles you would find at the doctor’s office. The needles are so small they can be difficult to see and even without numbing cream the sensation is not usually considered painful, but you may find it uncomfortable, similar to a light sunburn. Appointment time varies depending on the treatment area, but they are usually between thirty minutes to an hour. Following your treatment, you might notice some mild discomfort and redness for a few days.

Frequently asked questions
A medical grade device is rolled over the epidermis in a specific way which causes tiny little micro channels into the skin that stimulate rapid renewal, rejuvenation and regeneration providing long lasting corrective results.
The microscopic puncture channels stimulate circulation and the growth of new collagen and elastin. This assists in re-building the skin’s structure and integrity whilst providing versatile correction of many skin conditions. Skin needling does not use heat and is therefore suitable for treatment on most skin types.
Depending on your skin condition, we recommend anywhere between 3-10 treatments. When treating more severe skin conditions such as stretch marks and major scarring you may require between 6 to 10 treatments every 6-8 weeks. A refresher course may be performed every 6-12 months.
Prior to a skin needling treatment, you must ensure you use an SPF30+ or greater for at least 1 month and the use of cosmeceutical skin care is advised to accelerate results.
After a skin needling treatment you must ensure that you avoid any excessive heat to the area such as hot showers, saunas, exercise, sun exposure etc. The application of a soothing agent post treatment is essential and you must also avoid the use of active cosmeceutical skin care for a few days post treatment.
After a skin needling treatment it is normal to experience mild to moderate redness, slight swelling, minor flaking, mild grazing and bruising. The more dramatic side effects can last anywhere from 1 to 7 days with improvements each day.
One hour prior to treatment a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area. This will minimise any discomfort during the treatment. Most clients describe the feeling as a bit of pressure and a mild tingling feeling.
Skin needling is not only effective at treating certain skin conditions on the face, but also very effective in the treatment of stretch marks and scarring on any part of the body. Skin needling is also safe to perform on areas close to the eyes, such as when treating crows feet and frown lines.
