Advanced Carbon Correction Facial

There’s no doubt you’ve heard about laser facials and their effectiveness in treating a whole range of skin conditions from pigmentation and acne to scarring and ageing. I decided to take this amazing treatment and turn it on it’s head! Now known as our Advanced Carbon Correction Facial, we combine 3 amazing modalities at the same time.

  1. 1-2 passes of a microdermabrasion treatment
  2. Application of a carbon mask
  3. Up to 5 passes of the laser

Here I’ll explain to you every step of this amazing treatment and what the benefits are:

Step 1 –  The Microdermabrasion.

After cleansing the skin thoroughly using ‘chirally correct’ cleansing formulas we start by performing a microdermabrasion treatment which exfoliates the top layer of dead skin. This will allowing deeper penetration of the next stage of this treatment; The carbon!

Step 2 – The secret weapon – Applying the carbon mask

There are 2 reasons why we apply a Carbon mask to the skin prior to the laser treatment. Firstly, applying Carbon to the skin allows the carbon to act like an artificial chromophore (pigment) in your skin. The laser is attracted to this pigment and because of its black colour the laser light will absorb into the carbon very easily. The second reason is that the carbon enters into the pores and takes up residence next to all of the trapped oil, dirt and grime that has been sitting there. Why is this a good thing? I’ll tell you that in just a moment….

After we’ve completed the micro, and applied the black carbon mask to the skin, it’s now time for the laser to work its magic!

Specific wavelengths of light is passed across the treatment area between 2 to 5 times depending on various factors. Everyone has different skin types and depending on your skin condition and the way it responds on the day of your treatment, your therapist will determine exactly how many passes will give the best results!

Now for step 3 – The laser eraser!

As the laser passes across the treatment area, the carbon is blasted off along with its roommates – dirt, oil, grime, dead skin cells and any other unwanted guests creating havoc on your skin. This is the reason we want the carbon to enter your pores – if the laser can blast the carbon away, and the oil, dirt, grime and dead skin is stuck to the carbon then it will have no choice but to shatter into particles and lift off the skin together with the epidermal layer.

If this is something you’d like to try, reach out and make an inquiry. We’d be able to discuss your concerns and establish if this is the best treatment for you.
