When was the last time you applied a facial mask at home? Last week? Last month? Last year? Maybe…never!
There are two types of people in this world, people who use masks and people who don’t. Here I will discuss the top 5 reasons everyone should be using a mask regularly at home (in addition to your current skin care routine).
#1 Masks are deep cleansing
Applying a mask on a regular basis (weekly) assists in the cleansing of your pores and the removal of any impurities sitting on the surface of your skin. Whilst most of us cleanse daily, applying a mask every week simply takes cleansing to another level. You’ll notice your skin looking and feeling so much more hydrated and fresh.
#2 Deeper penetration of actives
Let’s face it, if you mask regularly it’s safe to say that your skin care regime is pretty comprehensive. You’re probably using at least 2 to 3 serums a day, a moisturizer, eye cream, Vitamin A, B and C and an spf, right? Well wouldn’t it be nice to know that when using a mask regularly, it will assist in all these wonderful ingredients penetrating deeper into your skin essentially making your products work harder and more effectively for you.
#3 Masks can be customised to suit your needs
Masks are specifically designed for a range of skin types and conditions. Whether your concern is acne, dehydration, ageing, pigmentation, or oily skin there is a mask suitable for you. Cosmedix have 7 different types of masks and they are:

#4 Easy to use
Masks are extremely easy to apply and remove yourself and some masks can even be left on your skin over night. You can apply them 15 minutes before jumping into the shower or you can apply it, pour yourself a cup of tea (or glass of wine) and use this time to relax, read a book and unwind from all the stresses of the day.
#5 Simply slot a mask into your homecare current routine
Face masks allow you to address specific skin concerns and conditions simultaneously. Want to reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, while exfoliating the skin at the same time? No problem! So where and how do we slot it into our current routine?
- Masks must be applied to clean skin. Double cleanse to remove all traces of makeup, dirt and oil from the day.
- Apply the mask to a dry or damp face (depending on the mask being used)
- Leave for the desired time
- Remove the mask with lukewarm water and facial cloth as this will help break down the mask to make it easier to remove.
- Once all traces of the mask is removed continue as normal with your toner, eye cream, serums and moisturizer.
