What does the Acne Starter Program treat?
This program treats the appearance of acne and pimples, predominately on the face.
The objective of the starter program is to:
- Reduce inflammation and improve skin immunity
- Stabilise sebaceous secretions (control oil flow)
- Prepare the skin for more advanced treatments and products
Who could benefit from this program?
Both men and women suffer from acne. The biggest prevalence of this condition is teenagers who are experiencing hormonal fluctuations during puberty. However, there are large number of adults 20-40 who suffer from acne. Typically (for reasons unknown) Asian cultures most commonly suffer from this condition. Another subset of clients who we typically see with this condition is women who suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Due to hormonal imbalances, women who suffer from this condition also experience severe bouts of acne.
What can you expect during the treatment program?
Before we begin the treatment, we perform an in-depth skin consultation and analysis. Here we can gauge the severity of the symptoms and identify any other potential underlying skin concerns. This program combines both homecare products that target acne with in-clinic treatments for 4 weeks. The homecare products form the foundation of the program, however the two peels really do speed results and provide a dramatic visual difference almost immediately post treatment.
The Peel
Once the severity of the symptoms and potential underlying skin concerns are established the therapist is able to recommend the right type of Peel to begin the program. A peel is used to remove the outer layers of dead skin cells allowing active ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin layers. Results can be seen immediately after treatment. You will experience some light tingling during the treatment however generally the peel being used in this program is very comfortable with little to no down time. Some slight redness may be experienced post treatment but can usually subside with 30 mins or so.
Homecare Products
The home care products are equally as important to the outcome of the treatment. By using the recommended products daily, clients can see the most dramatic results and improvements in their skin. The active ingredients penetrate deep into the layers of the skin and begin to work at the cellular level to reduce inflammation, provide anti-bacterial and astringent properties to the skin to help heal, and reduce the swelling, redness and discomfort that acne causes.
Needling OR Laser Treatment
Depending on which skin condition is to be treated and the skin type, either a needling treatment or laser treatment is added to further stimulate collage production and enhance the reparative process.
